Bacti-MITE is a gram positive bacillus isolated from soil with an acaricidal effect made from selected strains of Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki.
Bacti-MITE is composed of strains of Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki that naturally parasitize eriophids, white mites and tetranychids. It works by producing proteins (delta endotoxins, known as "toxic crystals") that react with the cells of the intestinal lining of susceptible mites.
Bacti-MITE proteins paralyze the digestive system and the mite stops feeding after a few hours.
